Made in the UK

The angled design of the Hoff system is born from the consideration of human space, whereas the generic design of small buildings over the past decades has settled to a vernacular born purely from minimising costs.

When thinking about comfortable, habitable space with a blank sheet of paper, the considerations of our animal behaviour don’t result in rectangular box form. Humans are the only animals that build anything in square form.

The angular shape of the Hoff makes the interior space feel much bigger than the footprint dictates. The ‘Alice in Wonderland’ optical illusion works on both ends of the structure. The angled shape was originally employed for a stand design at one of the early Grand Designs show , purely as a structure to hold RawStudio’s range of hanging chairs . It was then developed to become the frame for garden office structures; the sloping roof working well with the British climate and the angled walls allowing a more innovative use of space for interior/exterior living.

Conversations with our customers highlighted the fact that many households valued the fast installation of a pre built structure, as opposed to their property becoming a building site for a few weeks whilst messy groundworks were laid and structures were custom built in situ from raw materials. This also is of benefit to garden designers who can plan in a delivery with minimal impact to landscaping activities. Sending teams out to on a lengthy build tends to be a major factor in costs which is of no benefit to the customer’s finished product. That’s why we build in our factory.
